Friends of the Library

OCTOBER 8, 2019 - 6:30PM

Please join us at the William K. Sanford Colonie Town Library on October 8 at 6:30pm.  Brief reports will be given by the President and Treasurer as well as standard agenda items.  We love to hear new ideas so please join us.

Please be sure to join us at the Friends Book Nook at the Crossings Park on Albany-Shaker Road. We are open 9:00AM-1:00PM every Saturday that the Farmers Market is held. The last date is September 28. We have a big selection of books for both adults and children. Most items are $1.00. Donations may be dropped off during the Book Nook hours. We hope to see you there!

We are in need of volunteers to staff the Book Nook. Shifts are only two hours, and if you're new, you will be paired with an experienced volunteer. It's fun, and you're helping the Library. Please use the Contact link below if you are interested in volunteering.

OCTOBER 16, 2019

As you may be aware, our local Boscov's has a "Friends Helping Friends" Day.  This year, it will be held on October 16.

The first two weeks of October, the Friends will be selling Boscov's passes for $5 each.  Boscov's does not receive any of the $5 -- it all goes to the Friends! The passes allow you to purchase many items at 25% off on October 16. A few brands have lower discounts, but they are still a bargain. Boscov's also offers refreshments that day and raffles.  Please stop by our Friends table at the library and purchase a pass.  Thanks for your support.

The Friends are still selling Hoffman Car Wash tickets. There are two choices: full-service car washes for $27 and exterior car washes for $10. Plan ahead for birthdays, thank you's, holidays, etc. The tickets do not expire, and the Friends receive 50% of the price which will support our Library!

Click here to purchase car wash tickets online.

Thanks for supporting the Friends of the Library.

NOVEMBER 8, 9 & 10

Please add our Fall Book Sale to your calendar.

Sale hours are:

  • Friday, November 8 - 10am-5:30pm
  • Saturday, November 9 - 9am-4:30pm
  • Sunday, November 10 - 1pm-3pm

As we get closer to November, an email will be sent out asking for volunteers for two-hour shifts.

W.K. Sanford Town Library Friends welcome new members.

If you're not sure what we're about, the Friends is a support organization to the Colonie Town Library.  There are numerous ways the Friends help, such as paying for items that are not covered in the library's annual budget.  Money is raised by selling used books or holding special fundraisers.  Click HERE to see some of the ways we have helped the library with the funds raised. Some recent purchases were the outdoor book drop box and numerous museum passes that may be borrowed.

Your assistance is needed in many areas.  Whether you can volunteer just an hour or on a regular basis, we can use you!  There are many opportunities. Beginning in May when the Colonie Farmers Market opens at the Crossings on Saturday mornings, volunteers are needed in two-hour shifts to assist with used-book sales. You can also choose to assist at just one event such as selling raffle tickets, assembling food orders, etc. for an hour or two on a specific day.

It's easy to join.  Annual membership dues are modestly priced:

  • $15 Individual Annual Membership
  • $25 Household Annual Membership
  • $10 Senior Annual Membership
  • $250 Business Annual Membership

Just click HERE to pay membership dues by credit card.

Please try us out by attending one of the meetings listed below.

Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm at the Library's Youth Services Activities Room.
