Friends of the Library Book Sale

Announcing the Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale! Celebrate the season with great reads and browse a wide selection of gently used books for all ages, including fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, cookbooks, mysteries, biographies, and much more. You will also find DVDs, CDs, and other items at affordable prices.

Book Sale Schedule:
Thursday, 9/24: 4:00 PM-7:00 PM ($5 entry fee, cash only)
Friday, 9/25: 10:00 AM-4:00 PM (No entry fee)
Saturday, 9/26: 10:00 AM-4:00 PM (No entry fee)
Sunday, 9/27: 1:00 PM-4:00 PM (Fill a bag for $5)
Please also note that there is a $10.00 minimum for credit card purchases.

Repair Café

The Library and the Planning and Economic Development Department are teaming up for the Town’s 4th annual Repair Café. The event will take place at the library on Saturday, October 3 from 12:00-4:00 PM. Registration is not required.

You are invited to bring an item* that needs some TLC and connect with volunteer experts from our community who are excited to teach you the skills to fix items and extend the life of your prized possessions.

*Examples of acceptable items are small tables/chairs/other wooden items, lamps, small appliances, clothing or textiles, knives and gardening tools that need sharpening, bicycles, computers and smart devices. This list will be updated until the event date at: libr.info/items2repair2026

Trunk or Treat Volunteers Needed

10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Tuesday, 9/1 at 6:00 PM – In this program, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York, participants will be taught to recognize the 10 common warning signs of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and learn what steps to take when symptoms are noticed.

Meal Planning and Prepping 101 Tuesday, 9/15 at 6:30 PM – In this workshop we will demo some easy meal prep ideas and you’ll learn tips and tricks to help you get delicious dinners on the table more quickly.

AHP Energy Program Tuesday, 9/29 at 6:00 PM – Join the Capital Region Clean Energy Hub for a free workshop designed to help residents take real, practical steps toward cleaner, safer, and more affordable home energy.

Chair Zumba Wednesdays, 9/30, 10/21, 10/28 at 1:00 PM – Leave aches pains and stress at the door and enjoy 45 minutes of happiness in a judgement-free zone! We’ll move to lively Latin-based music from the 60’s to today.

Youth Spotlight

Youth Fall Program Registration opens Saturday, 9/19 at 10:00 AM online.

Rhythm & Play with Classical Indian Music Thursday, 10/8 at 6:30 PM – Through a joyful hands-on experience, Veena and Devesh Chandra will introduce young learners to classical Indian percussion, vocal rhythms, and instruments. Grades 1 and up. The Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Statewide Community Regrant Program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Trunk or Treat Halloween Event

Friday, October 23, 6:15-8:00 PM

Families of all ages are invited to join us for our Trunk or Treat — wear your costumes and bring the whole family for an evening of frightful delights! This Halloween tailgating event features volunteers dressed in costume with creatively decorated car trunks as children trick-or-treat from vehicle to vehicle. At 7:00 PM, enjoy a magical Halloween Magic Show that’s sure to entertain audiences of all ages! Bring a flashlight and bug spray. Overflow parking at the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 250 Maxwell Road.

One-on-one help is available for assistance with the Library’s digital collections, technology questions, and information searches. Maker Lab topics by appointment: photo scanning, slide/negative scanning, VHS to digital conversion, DVD/CD duplicator, DVD/CD burner, and Cricut. Senior Resources Visits

The Town of Colonie Senior Resources Department will be visiting the library on Monday 10/5, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, with information about services and programs. Drop in with your questions!
